RUGBY WORLD CUP NIGHT AWAY 1/2 October 2011
« on: May 12, 2011, 02:06:05 PM »
We never had a follow up to the 6 nations weekend done in 2009 but this year Rugby goes hugggggeeeeee so how about a weekend away?

In the group games the two suggestions are
a) England v Scotland on 1st October (saturday)
b) Wales v South Africa on 2nd October (sunday)

The proposal is to meet at a notorious rugby venue (eg for England game lets go to Twickers, Wales go to Cardiff) and watch the game there coupled with an overstay at a local hotel

A few peeps have noted interested off the forum but posting this now to get a view on possible numbers

Hi Lisa

Very interested in Twickenham (if I can arrange something for the boys).

If Twickenham is on the 1st and and Cardiff on the 2nd, anyone going to both would have to get up (with a hangover!)  in Twickenham on Sunday, morning and drive to Cardiff in time to park and get to the stadium area?

lol - not suggesting both Carol - wouldn't allow me enough time to get lost in the middle ! :)

Just trying to get a feel for interest and which game people would prefer or even if there is another one (not Ireland though Phil! ) which would be better!

Happy to go with the flow but testing the water  :)

If you could get the matches rearranged for a different weekend that woud be very convenient!

I would love to do either (prob prefer Cardiff) but will have to see about swapping the children!!

I am intersted in this but will have to try and work out if I'm working that weekend or not.  For me it would have to be Cardiff as I'd get to watch SA run riot over the Welsh ;D

Well Jen & Phil be good to have you there!

It does seem to be favouring Wales but please note this is a Sunday evening game so I'm assuming we stay over Sunday night (means Monday off work ) would be good to watch Wales be victorious though :) can't remember if they won last time - think I was wondering round Cardiff at the time!!!!

Paul - I'm assuming you would be backing Wales so you're definitely welcome  ;D

Did Pm Ruth to let her know about the thread as seen she had come back on here

Please feel free to suggest others games I only picked two which I thought would be good / popular ones but I'm a woman what do I know!  ;)

I support both with Danni being South African Welsh person but when they play each other its Wales all the way!!

Looks like Phil (the Irish supporter  ;D :P) is well outnumbered on this one  :)

Mind you Jen & Carol I'm assuming you will be for England - does that mean you'll back SA or Wales?

Would be happy to go to Wales v SA.  Believe it or not, I would support Wales!

Only problem would be Sunday night as I'll have to be back for Monday to get George off to School.  Who knows which College Harry will be at, but I'm sure he's going to need to be dragged out bed still!!

Shame, Saturday night would have been possible.  :(   I can't believe I'm going to miss out AGAIN!!

I would be up for the England one on the Saturday, never been to a rugby game and LF lives near Twickenham so could maybe combine the two of them :-)

But it appears that you're favouring Cardiff at mo so will see where the decision goes...
