Holidays 2016
« on: November 02, 2015, 11:11:04 AM »
We're in the process of filling up our calendar for 2016 and you'll see the regular trips that we couldn't do without, the reappearance of some old favourites and some new locations too.  We're hoping to have all trips online this side of Christmas, and will also start adding some 2017 holidays for those of you who like to plan / save early too.

Watch this space!

Naturally if anyone has any good suggestions for new locations, we're all ears!

Hi I'm new! I can't believe I haven't found this site before, I've been a single mum for almost 11 years! Anyway, I've found you now and I'm really interested in going on one of your camping weekends but I'm a bit nervous - a) because me and my daughter won't know anyone  :-[, b) I haven't been camping for a few years and I might not remember how to put the tent up  :-\ and c) I'd like to bring my dog along but I haven't taken her camping before so I don't know what she'll be like  :'(

Hi KerryBee, welcome to SWK.

Definitely book a camping trip, they're sooooo much fun.  As soon as you pull up in the car you're amongst (new) friends and there's usually someone to help with the tent.  Lots of dogs too but they're never as noisy as the birds

Marshmallows around the campfire, kids making dens, the smell of bacon cooking when you wake up and frying pan tennis....  roll on summer  ;D

I'm really interested in going on one of your camping weekends but I'm a bit nervous - a) because me and my daughter won't know anyone  :-[,

There are always lots of folk on each camp that start off not knowing anyone.  I can guarantee your daughter will make friends and I'm fairly certain you will too .... especially because this ...

b) I haven't been camping for a few years and I might not remember how to put the tent up  :-\ and

... is always entertaining. :)

You won't be left to struggle, there's always folk that will help.  Besides, I haven't seen many tents lately that can't be set up by one person working methodically.

c) I'd like to bring my dog along but I haven't taken her camping before so I don't know what she'll be like  :'(

But you do know what she's like around people and other dogs.

Welcome btw :) .... we're over the river from you near Twickenham.

Which camp(s) are you looking at?

Thank you everyone, I feel reassured and I'll definitely be booking 😃

It's the New Forest one in June.

I look forward meeting everyone who will be there and I'll apologise in advance in case my dog is a nuisance (she's generally well behaved but I'm worried she'll bark at strange noises in the night 😕)

Ooh, I've just joined and live near the New Forest so this sounds great. I've also never erected a tent in my life - could be embarrassing ;-)

Hi  :)
I've done a few of the SWK camping trips with my dog and they've been great!

My son is off the minute we pull up and there are always people who come over and offer help to pitch.

I take a little shelter and windbreak for my dog as she gets excited seeing kids playing in the field and wants to join in so the windbreak keeps her quiet and also reassures those who aren't so fond of dogs (especially as mine is a big bouncy loony!  :) )

MM x
Sometimes when you give up on someone, its not because you don't care but because you realise that they don't.

The London trip that was done a couple of years ago now( Doesn`t time fly ?) was really enjoyable.
Heidi still talks about it and the fact she would be able to swim in the swimming pool if we went back .

Debso12, We stayed in individual apartments within a large Victorian house with a large swimming pool and sauna in the garden, I think we had 3 or 4 a/ments and the price was really good. Would certainly consider this trip if it was on again.
Enjoy

Thanks Cew. It was a lovely trip, I'm not sure why it wasn't more popular at the time but definitely worth us considering again. It may be a good Easter trip one year?

My first ever trip with SWK and my first ever camping trip was the New Forest one.  And I (technically) live in the New Forest!

Eight years later, still SWK ing and still camping.  ;D

Haven't booked yet but I intend to be there this year too.  My daughter was 12 yesterday - how old is yours KerryBee?

My daughter will be 11 in July. I'm all booked on the new forest camp and I can't wait! I really wish I'd found this site before. Roll on June!!

Excellent!

We will have to try and make sure we meet up.  Only members can PM on this site and it is not a good idea to put phone numbers etc on these posts.  Someone usually starts a "who's going" thread .............
