How does this work?
« on: May 04, 2012, 05:59:43 PM »
Hi All

I'm new at this (only 2 weeks separated but think it's for ever) and quite determined that HRH (His Royal Highness aka 8 year old son) and I  should not miss out on camping.

I'm thinking of booking in to the June camping in Norwich but my big problem is my tent is a massive Montana 6 glaming affair - and there is no way I'm going to be able to pitch/strike it on my own.

How does it work? Do people help each other - or do I need to go out and buy some cheap  quick pitch job - which I don't really want to do as onc it up the Montana is cool and I already have all the gear for it.

 ???

I agree with Mand - get started with the tent and someone will wander over and offer help in no time. x

Get it booked and ask for help once there Were all in the same boat and most of us are pretty good at putting up most types of tents . Just have a open bottle of wine on the table and people will soon coome over to help  ;)
on another planet or so I'm told

No, it's all fine now. He's worked out how to break the curse. It involves white wine and I was quite drunk on rose wine when he explained it to me but it made perfect sense at the time!

To Gemini

I'll be travelling from Cheshire too. Am considering driving to maybe Cambridge on Friday night - staying in travel lodge/premier inn type place then going on the next morning. Happy to drive in tandem if your intrested - probably too much gear and kids to car share.

That's why we've put it down as a 4 night break, Gemini - the long drive isn't quite so daunting when you've time to recover in between.  If the weather's good (which of course it will be  ;D ), I suspect a number of people will be likely to stay around a little longer too...

Go on, you know you want to  ;D

Just spotted your booking coming in  ;D

I've got to say I'm SOO excited about this one, I just know the weather's going to be tropical, we'll all spend long evenings on the beach and we'll all look back in decades to come and remember exactly where we celebrated the Diamond Jubilee because we had such a fab time  ;D

There's not actually long to go either!

Not sure we will get there on time for dinner - I won't be able to leave until after work and think drive to Cambridge will take about 3 1/2 hours from Cheshire - shame though that would be fun! I suspect I'll be having a something plastic masquerading as food at a service station with HRH!
