What new purchases are you planning?
« on: May 21, 2012, 04:01:13 PM »
I always come back from a camping trip with a list of things for the list. This time it's a folding washing up bowl, a furry blanket and new speakers for my iPod.  I did fancy the Winnebago spotted on site on Saturday but as I haven't got £120k going spare, that'll have to save for another time  ;)

Lost two gazebo's to the weather last year and the roll up table rolled its last so those are on the list

Must almost be time for T! to start wanting his own tent soon.

There's always something that could be done better - not sure whether to look at slightly more robust chairs or if it's best to simply accept they have a limited lifespan.

It's annoying how the mesh cup holders always go on those chairs too.

I saw some cheap chairs at an Esso garage the other day - only ~ £6.99 each and less for two.  They had them in some nice colours.

Ha ha, more wine here so I don't end up drinking vodka ever again!!!

On my list is waterproof trousers for J & I, working on the basis that as soon as I buy sun cream the sun goes in, as soon as I buy snow boots we get no more snow. Clever eh?!

Definately NO to vodka...I wouldn't like the combination of me, vodka and camping...definately not a camping trip with children!!! That is why I stick to my wine or Martini and lemonade!  ;D

A couple of things I will be purchasing is some fleecy/furry car rugs and also some 'snap and heat' hand warmers...for when I'm still freezing at 4am!!! LOL!!!!!  ;D

I really fancy a Cadac Safari Chef (gas powered barbecue) and a flowery windbreak too but just have to keep my list in order.

Oh yes, and I managed to break my toilet on Saturday by treading on it in my big, daft wellies...I'm not sure if I can get a replacement part so that may join the list too.

I don't think I'll have any money for vodka at this rate :-(

Yeh, I will add a windbreak to my list! I need to sort out the night-time toilet trip too...the icecream tub wasn't the best...a bit splashy!!!! Any other cheap suggestions for the night-time toilet trip...(without going outside!!!)?

Chrissie, you weren't a little worse for wear were you when you stomped on your toilet thing?  ;)

I'm going to get more heat in a click, we have 5 little ones but I might get a couple of bigger ones for the next trip.

LMN, depending how much you've got to spend and how much space in car, but you can get chemical loos from about £35. Mine's only a small one but does the job. I couldn't camp without it now!

TB, I guess a chemical loo is good if there are no toilets on site...but for just a wee in the night it's a bit extreme!!! I think a bucket with a lid is possibly the way to go! I will have to have alook around!!

L&F, did I meet you this weekend?

Ah, see J & I  both have gnat size bladders so we both get up a few times a night for a wee, a loo makes a huge difference to us!
A few people have those Kamping Khazi things which are basically a bucket with a loo seat on.

I am suffering from a serious case of tent envy. New tent on my list.   Just missed out on a mojave 5 with carpet and porch on ebay, the whole lot went for £80!

Have just had the promotions email from Go-Outdoors and they're on offer at £129. Not sure if someone else posted this last week but thought I'd let you know.

I have just bought a double camping chair from Argos £9.99 (you can almost lie down on it !) and a Regatta adjustable leg table with two removable storage areas underneath for £19.99.The table is great,Folds up in own bag.The storage areas are quite big and could store lots of things..

I had already bought a portaloo off Amazon for less than £20.00,
It isn`t a chemical one but for weekend camps etc don`t think that`s needed.
Great for night time weeeees,Essential for my little one and I.
I just put some discinfectant and a little water in it and away you go.

I got around to adding a few more bits and pieces to my stash and so now have a couple of waterproof picnic blankets, a fire-pit a couple of weeks ago for £20 so I'm happy with that, camping kitchen thingy for £20 and lots of battery operated/solar powered lamps and lights recently too.  Yay! Seem to have lost my mallet (boo) so I need a new one of those....

I got a Mojave 5, it was in the Go Outdoors sale.   I changed as the other one was old, torn, the poles  kept splitting and there was a gap either side of the ground sheet and the dog could escape....

Now looking at heaters, and camping beds.....

We had new sleeping pods Bobbley for Norfolk they are fantastic, you can twist and turn as much as you like. I brought the XL as reviews were saying the normal size pod were not long enough for over 5'3"-5'4" in height. They also fit a full size pillow in the hood part - would not go back to normal sleeping bags now!!!
If you obey all the rules you miss out on all the fun!!!
Wouldn't it be nice if the world was flat then we could push off people we didn't like!
