I am sorry I have no advice. I think it hurts you as well when your children are in pain. I hope the surgeon can do something for your son so that he doesn't have to suffer as much pain.

Hi hun, No advice, but a bit of sifting on the internet has shown quite a lot about flat feet surgery....maybe useful to have a look? I searched under "operations for flat feet"
From what I can see, the operatons vary slightly, but most seem to be really successful. Aftercare though is a bit constraining. Plaster casts and restricted walking etc.
Good luck.

splints not going down well rang up to speak to consultant and he has given me an appointment next tues so thats good news at least things started moving although after all the tears last night I am glad. looked online at surgery but have to say some of the pictures were not as bad as Georges feet but it does take a lot of recovery afterwards and that is the worst thing as I will have to change my dining room to bedroom have ramp fitted etc but as long as we can progress and he can do things other people do will be great improvement :

No advice to give, but hope that things start moving more positively when you see the Consultant on Tuesday.
My younger son is 12 and the thought of him sleeping splints would not be a good one. Keep posting. I'm sure we will all give you support even if it's only to send best wishes and hugs, which I am.

Seen Consultant and began physio Getting worse consultant stopped use of splints not helping at all, sending him for mri scan with view to operation physio today was awful, george is finding it hard to walk for more than ten mins without severe pain, he cried all time with pain even though he tried not to, physio said problems with feet bones fused together, ankle, tendons, knees and cartledge and also not got hardly quadracepts and is concerned that hips not aligned. Massage/exercises/hydrotherapy until mri scan totally gutted cos they said maybe because he is a triplet not enough room to grow, he was one of four I miscarried one at 8 weeks. This makes me feel even more guilty than before may as well, we tried 6 years to have kids tried fertility tablets never worked gave up only to get pregnant 8 months after stoping fertility tablets. Found out it was 4 then 3 then told had cervical cancer and told to abort which I rfused to do, had hysterectomy when kids were born. this week i accidentally spilt drink on my only scan photo showing all 4 on so cried a river over that now this on top if only icould take his pain away i cant stand it when he says why me? it breaks me up

There was an article about this in the Times on Saturday about a new treatment for flat feet, it basically involved putting a stent in the foot, done under local aneasthetic, with minimal pain.
I will look and see if I can see online and post link

I have no real advice, but just wanted to send hugs to you and your son. I know what it is to want kids so badly and then have problems afterwards.
He is one hell of a lucky kid though to have a sensitive mom like you. Take each challenge as it comes.
Take care.

Sending you a hugs too, I have only had it for the last 8 weeks which has been hard enough but to go through it for 3 months without any support must be so tough. Is there no support worker at the hospital that can help you in any way, even just to talk through things with you and your son.

George still at physio and still going three times a week not been on here for ages as Harry managed to break his pelvis playing football and after 20 weeks on crutches has now joined George at physio so between them I am there 5 times per week
Harry will need it for 6 months with pool treatment
George indefinately
George was to have operation on feet in school holidays but been cancelled til xmas not good his feet now a size 11 and he is towering above me and pain a daily battle he is on dla for asthma but when i renewed i told them about his feet and mobility and they dismissed it
i ended up with two hernias from lifting harry out of bath when he slipped so now i need an operation hopefully before george totally fed up!
