Feeling positive and wanted to share :oD
« on: August 01, 2011, 11:57:40 AM »
I've been looking through some of my old posts (yes I'm bored lol) and realise how many times I've posted and received support when I've felt that life is just too hard and felt I was really at 'rock bottom'.  I've been comparing where I was then with where I am now and the difference is remarkable.

Every time I've felt like I cant cope with anything else - guess what - I have coped.  And climbed back out of whatever hole I've been in.  So I've come to realise I'm wayyyyyyy stronger than I've ever given myself credit for and I have some fab friends who I know will be there for me through thick and thin.

I'm not saying life is 100% fab, its not - and I still have things I'm coping with (hey thats life isnt it) but I no longer 'nose-dive everytime things go wrong or dont work out as I would have liked.

Happy me is on her way back - and thats the happy being single me  ;D ;D ;D .  And I'll be happy being single until I get even stronger and feel I can cope with being hurt again (because that will always be the risk).

So feeling much more positive and I thank everyone on here who has helped me get there.  Its a fab place to be and I'm so glad I found you all.

Tracey xx  ;D ;D ;D

Brilliant

There's a lot to be said for stopping every once in a while and looking back to see how far you've come - rather than constantly focussing on how far there is to go.

A lot of your post finds resonance here - good init :)

10 months is no time at all to recover from a life-changing event - you may find you need to give yourself time - people are different, some need lots & lots of time

its such a scary and lonely time being single with a child, and the moment i just feel knumb

Take note that you are not the only one ... suddenly with that simple thought you are no longer alone

where to start to get my life back on track

just thinking that it's something you need to do is a damn fine start - where you start will depend on the priorities you set yourself ... when you are able to set them

btw: welcome :)

Hi there!  Yes a big welcome and you have found yourself in a very good place.  Sometimes this is a place of sanity and at other times  ;D it's a place to air your soul and get some feedback that will help you drag your socks back up.

I've been looking through some of my old posts (yes I'm bored lol) and realise how many times I've posted and received support when I've felt that life is just too hard and felt I was really at 'rock bottom'.  I've been comparing where I was then with where I am now and the difference is remarkable.

And to get back to the originator of this thread, there's a big 'ole full moon tonight and it makes one.....reflective does it not?

I vote that we give all of us a big pat on the back.  We are all a bit fabulous.

We definately all need a HUGE pat on the back!!! It's not easy been a single parent and at times we all probably feel like locking ourselves in a room with ear-plugs in!!!

You are right about reflecting...it must be a January thing!!!....
One of the biggest, most courageous things I have done is to get the hell out of there!!! I look back and think that was the bravest things I have ever done!! At the time it was an absolutely s##t time ( I would've put more swear words in there!!)!!! Five years on, I'm back on my feet...and enjoying life again...what a huge distance I have come!

This site is amazing and there are loads of great people on here (looking forward to meeting everyone soon!)

Tracey, being single is the best way to be!!!! (most of the time anyway!!!)

And Positive thinking IS the way forward!!

xxx ;D ;D

@Irish Eyes
Thank you for 'bumping up' this thread.  I've been having a really cr@p time recently.  After all I said about being happy single I did get into a relationship which ended very suddenly and without warning after new year.  I've not said a huge amount about it on here because he is a forum member and I have too much respect for the joint friends we have on here (not so much for him anymore I'm afraid) but he did hurt me incredibly and wasnt who he made himself out to be.  I am also going through a lot of stress at work at the minute and am under threat of discipline (possible dismissal) for something I havent done but cant prove I havent.  Its my word against a superiors basically and the main witness in my favour is someone who takes great delight in causing trouble for me and has caused me no end of stress since Sept so I'm not sure she'll be any help.  I do have backup from my union but how much good it will do me is yet to be seen.  I've also had another big vets bill for my cat which I've had to put on my credit card although I'm already struggling to pay it.  I'm struggling with depression again and am suffering constant headaches and migraines (all stress related) so am in a really low place. Top this with my ex husband letting down my kids for the second time in just over a month as well as giving me grief every chance he gets and its been a really sh*t month  :'(

Reading this again is a good kick up the backside just when I need it and a good reminder of what I have that is fab in my life.  And of how far I have come and dont want to fall back into.  Thank you for the reminder  :)

Oh Tracey.  I'm so sorry to hear that you are having a bad time.  And men seem to be the root cause of it (apologies to any nice, decent men reading this thread!).

But glad to hear your positive note at the end, despite what you are going through.

Your original post really resonates with me.  I am trying hard to remind myself of all the things I HAVE done and achieved and not to dwell on the things I haven't or have no longer got.  Go us!!!

xx
