Anyone fancy a meet up in Manchester/North West?
« on: June 10, 2016, 06:50:20 AM »
Hello all

There may be a regular meet up already in the NW and if so please do let me know.

I live in South Manchester with a 7 year old daughter - is there anyone who would like to meet up? I am happy to travel in the NW.  Weekends are probably best but if near by after school is also great.

Hoping to hear that there is a regular group who meet up close by :0)

Hello

I'd love to meet up or  catch up with an existing group if there's anything already going on.

I'm in Lancashire with a 4 year old girl and weekends are best for us too.

Looking forward to meeting  people  :)

Great - I can come to Lancs but it would have to be on a weekend.  I don't have my daughter this weekend coming so it would be either 25th or 26th - any good?  Any suggestions where?

Ah what a shame, I don't have my daughter on the 25th/26th! We have a few things on too but may be able to coincide on another weekend?
I have my daughter and am free on :
Sunday 10th July
Saturday 16th July
Would those be at all suitable?
If not, do go ahead without me and I'll try come next time x

well done on creating this thread - this is exactly what the regional boards are for - arrange meets and find other local parents. I'm a bit too far for this but hope you get a date sorted and then post it as an event for others to find

Hi there, I'm from the Stockport area and would love to meet up with other mums. I don't have a car at the moment but can easily get into central Manchester by train, should you happen to meet there at some point (don't let me stop you from meeting in Lancashire first though, and I'll try to come if I can!) I have two children, aged 5 and 3.

Hi , I have a 4 year old son and a teenage daughter. My son has some special needs but I think the meet up is more for me than him! I miss mature conversations and daft pointless ones too. Meeting up sounds good x

Update - have you seen the meet up at Branston Water Park on 10th July?  Not on our doorstep but would be great to meet there.

Just the three of us - I am only in Didsbury so can meet up when suits you if you don't have a car at the moment - that would be great

Bubble 24/7 - my folks are in Lancs and I come over regularly - where are you?

JH73 - hoping to meet up very soon - what do you think about Branston Water Park?

Phew - we will crack this xx

Saturdays are better for me, as the Sunday train service is terrible! Plus the kids often see their dad on Sunday. Hope you meet you all soon x

Hi all,
This coordinating diaries is tricky!

YvieB I've looked at Branson water park and it's a four hour round trip for us so a bit too far to travel but you guys go ahead. It looks a fab meet.

We could always pencil another date in for us northerners!?

Hi, it's lovely to see some responses - I'm in West Lancashire and I drive so distance isn't too much of an issue for me as long as it's a reasonable one. The meet up in Branston would be about an hour and forty minutes so that's a bit much I'm afraid. Still keen to sort something out though 😀

Hiya - I think we are getting there.

What do you think about this for our first meet up and to get us started - we can plan somewhere in park for next time:

Sunday 10th July (or 9th)

10.30/11am

Manchester centre (place to be agreed) - the Whitworth Gallery, Science Museum, Manchester Museum - or just a coffee :-) suggestions welcome

OR how do you feel about coming to Didsbury?  We have some lovely parks and walks for the kiddies (it would be easy for "the three of us" if you are able to get there on a Sunday morning)

Fingers crossed we are all good xx

Hi, we'd love to do something whether it's a museum or a park. Sitting down and chatting over a brew fairly unlikely with my lively four year old!
Need to check Sunday buses for Central Manchester as wouldn't know where to park. Think didsbury about an hours drive for us x

Shame you can't make Sunday the 10th but let's try to organise a Saturday.  Like I say I am only in Didsbury so not far from you.  We can alway meet one night after school at a park near to you if that helps.  Or definitely up for a meet in Manchester - I don't get into town much anymore and love the city.  Please keep in touch and anyone else in the North??

Hope to meet up soon xx

A get together has been organised for Sunday 10th June in Heaton Park, Manchester (time TBC).  If anyone is interested please reply - it would be great to meet up for a picnic, for the children to play and for a natter :-) xx

Well done on sorting a meet. Great idea to plan on different days so that everyone can make a meet at some point

Best thing is to add this as an event in Northern region now so others can see it x

Hi - there don't seem to be many of us up North but we have managed to sort out a meet for a couple of us, which is great.  Hopefully there will be more takers if we can organise regular get togethers :-)

I have posted on Regional Boards, Northern England, if there another area I can post it? xx

I've popped it up as an event as others may not read in within an existing thread. You'll get some that post on it and others that don't post but turn up. Best to try to encourage anyone thinking of coming to post so you can look out for them.

Also good idea to post a meeting spot - ie at car park or cafe etc as you'll all be wondering who you are and it's been known for people to turn up but miss out as they were reluctant to approach people. I used to wear a pink cowboy hat so everyone would spot me! Embarassing but breaks the ice :-)

Maybe pick another date too for August? so one's in the diary for those who can't make this date or location

Again - well done for biting the bullet and organising this. xx

Hello there - it was really lovely meet (apart from the showers).  Just 3 mums with 3 children at Heaton Park, which is fab, but hopefully we can get more of us Northerners (and anyone else who would like to come) together on a regular basis :-)

If there is anyone out there who fancies another get together please let us know - we are planning a meet up in Lancashire, however I know you mentioned that you don't have a car at the moment - has that changed?  As mentioned before I am quite close and happy to meet up anytime.
xx

Great - lets try to get another local meet up in the Manchester area.  "The three of us" if you could let us know what parks you could easily get to then we could then organise a picnic.  "Lisa0902" great to hear from you - how many children do you have?  I have one daughter age 7.

We are around over the hols until about the 15th August so happy to meet in a local park - what do you think?  Suggestions/dates welcome :-)

Great to see you got together - meets tend to start small and more come to each one over time. You'll build some really good local friends - well done for arranging (not easy trying to juggle dates when we all have so many responsibilities!)

Hi All,
I'm Serena and live in Didsbury South Manchester.  I have a little boy of 7 years and have just booked our first SWK holiday for New Year in Stratford.

I'll love to meet up with anyone else from the Manchester area for coffee, trip to the park or a cheeky few drinks without the kids!

Does anyone know of any local meets that are going on in the future?
