Family Treasure Hunt
« on: May 17, 2008, 01:00:43 PM »
I do this nearly every year now and used to organise it for suppliers as a thank you day out but wondered if anyone would be interested in a Treasure Hunt day in Shropshire.

General Idea - all meet in the car park of pub in All Stretton in the morning. Each team is given a pack of clues, cd and map.

Work out the clues to find the first place to get to, on the way there listen to the cd and answer the music questions. When you get there look for the answers to questions before starting on the next clue etc....

Normally all get together for lunch in a country pub.

Hunt is based on small villages around Church Stretton area so not too far to each one (haven't lost anyone yet!) and because of the area there is still loads to do around there so can incorporate lots within the day.

All meet back at the pub in All Stretton for evening meal and to award the prizes.

Possible date Saturday 20th September.

Nearest main town is Shrewsbury so I thought is was good location for Wales. North West and Midlands. Close to M6, M54 routes.

I'd be interested living near North Shropshire, Church stretton not that far faway rom me. We could combine it with a walk in the Shropshire hills prior to the treasure hunt if we wouldn't be too tired   ;) ;D

The hunt itself will take the day and allow everyone to go at a leisurely pace (especially with young children), have lunch, all be back for dinner etc. so not sure a walk would fit in unless it was a quick stroll round longmynd or unless anyone does actually get lost  ??? ;D  However the whole point is that people take as much time as they like - normally quite a few stop at pubs along the way or visit local shops as long as everyone makes it back to the meet point for dinner  :)

Sounds great monkeysmom, have you got a date in mind? It's definitely worth posting this on the Members' Own trip section when you have, I can imagine it being very popular.  :)

Great to hear there is interest in this, once I have figured out how to post it on the members bit I will put it up there and start getting things rolling. (Do trips get issued a number once you add them ?)

I will probably stay over as I will have to be there early to set up the hunt so if others are staying over perhaps we could meet up either on the Friday or Saturday night - will add details of where to stay in case anyone else wants to make it a break.

I may stay over, could go back to the caravan infact if its not to far from there.

If you post on the members board as normal with date, time and place in the heading, I'm sure Silky will edit it with the number.

Thanks Michelle - will do now whilst I remember. Be great to meet up finally, I don't think I can make the pub meet on 31st as going to Drayton manor on the 30th and Thomas has a party at the weekend - but if its on i will try to get there.

To be honest, I haven't had any response in regards to the pub meet so I don't think I will bother but its still early days yet.

Are you coming to the BBQ on the 21st June?

Hiya - I read the post on this but as we hadn't met I didn't want to invite myself to your home. My nephew is having a go karting party on 21st so we will be going to that but would love to come over afterwards if that is ok. Is it adults only?
Thanks

Don't be silly Lisa, I have had people here before who I'd never met, just ask Silky, Dawn and CG lol

My house is practically open to everyone on the day, whether I have met you or not.

Adults and children are more than welcome.

It will start in the afternoon and run on into the night, so you are still able to come after your nephew's party. ;D

Hear, hear!  ;D  Michelle is the hostest with the mostest - not only did she put Natasha, Michael & me up (never having met us before) she very kindly came all the way to Birmingham New Street Station to pick us up when our train got in!

She's a lovely lass with a big heart & I am gutted that I have a clash of committments that day - I was meant to be there with you all, celebrating my 47th birthday.  Then this wonderful man walked into my life and changed everything.............. ;D ;D ;D

Have no doubt MM, you will have a ball!

Thanks Michelle - will certainly do my best to make it. Its wonderful to find so many genuinely decent people on here, and I can't wait to meet up with everyone. Are you and mophead not meeting up before Shell Island then? I am over Walsall on the w/e 31st / 1st June so its not that far for me if you are having a pub meet or even if you want to get together somewhere else.
Thanks again

The pub meet can still go ahead on the 31st if anyone wants to meet me there, I just don't fancy the idea of sitting there on my own like Billy No Mates as usual lol.
